Scores on Croquet Scores by Peter Freer
We’re using Target Scores, where my pair usually has to get 8-10 hoops before our opposition get 4-6 hoops.
The scores are being recorded as percentages - if we get all our hoops (eg 8/8) then we get 100 (%); and if they got 4/5 they’d have 80 (%).
This suits Croquet Scores much better than trying to persuade it that 4 hoops won the game while the oppo got 7 hoops but needed more to win.
It also helps establish before players leave the court if a timed out game is settled when the bell goes (we’re playing stop on the bell after 75 minutes) , or if they have to play out the hoop to get a winner because they’re currently tied.
This means that "Net Hoops" is actually Average Percentage, but it functions the same way in ranking pairs tied on game wins.
