Nottingham GC Championship Series
Format by Will Gee
Format
There are two blocks of ten players. The format will be all-play-all, single 13point games. Block places will be determined by total game wins and then net hoops. The top two from each block will proceed to semi-finals. If three players are tied for the top three places, each with only one loss each, there will be a single 13 point playoff between the second and third positions in that block for progression to the knockout. The main knockout will consist of best of three matches. The plate events will be run as two cross blocks, with games from the original block carrying forward. Players placing 3rd to 6th in each block will contest the Plate and players placing 7th to 10th will contest the Vase.
Schedule
At least 7 block games will take place on Saturday, with the remainder taking place on Sunday morning. If players finish 7 games before 5pm, they are requested to play their 8th round on Sunday also. If both players involved agree, they may start the 8th round as late as 630pm. These players will likely have a late start on Sunday of 10am. The knockout stages and the plate cross block stages will take place from late morning on Sunday. Time limits won't be used, unless the manager decides that a match is endangering the tournament schedule. In that scenario, a time limit may be imposed mid-match or the match be pegged down and completed later. Time limits may also be imposed if the tournament falls behind schedule. On Sunday, slow plate games may be moved to another lawn to allow the main knockout draw to progress more quickly.
Lawns
We have five lawns available on Saturday, and we will briefly expand to six lawns for Sunday morning Vase games. Please be sensible for lawn selections.
Referees
Referees are asterisked on the players’ list. Tim King is ROT. The manager is not a referee!
Facilities
Nottingham CC has a fully stocked bar. Please set up a tab in the notebook and settle debts with the manager on Sunday afternoon. Tea and Coffee is not included in the tournament entry fee.
