2025 WCF Under 21 GC World Championship
Block Orders of Play by Jeff Soo
The goal is to finish all block matches by early afternoon on Wednesday, to allow enough time for any necessary playoffs (to break ties that affect qualification to the knockout) and to play the first round of the knockout later on Wednesday afternoon. This means that most players will play a total of five matches over Monday and Tuesday.
Having an odd number of players in each block, and an odd number of courts, precludes a tidy schedule with predictable start times for matches. Players will be allowed a reasonable break between matches, but there may be some cases where this break is fairly short; there will also be some breaks that are quite long.
Unfortunately there a a few players who will have three matches Monday and only one match Tuesday, or the reverse. I've avoided this as much as possible, but I am required to use the order of block rounds set out in the WCF Sports Regulations, and that limits my options.
Courts will not usually be assigned in advance. The time you are required to be ready to begin your first match of the day will be posted the evening before.
The PDF file linked below shows the full order of play for each block. In general the matches will be played in the order shown, except where a player is taking an authorised break or is still in another match. Some matches are shown in blue; these will be pushed forward to the previous day if possible.
