USCA GC Eights
Format by Jeff Soo
The First, Second, Third, and Fourth Eights will each play a round-robin block, each match best-of-3 games. Each player will be scheduled for two matches per day Thursday through Saturday, and one match Sunday. Finishing order for each Eight will be on matches won, with net games as the primary tie-break, and net-points as the secondary tie-break for any ties not affecting first place. If there is a first-place tie on both matches and net games, there will be a playoff (single-game matches) to determine the winner of the Eight.
The Fifth Group will play a double-round-robin of single-game matches. Each player will play four games per day Thursday through Saturday. Sunday is reserved for playoffs to break any ties on games won. Players not involved in playoffs will be able to play extra games, which will count toward world ranking but will not affect the finishing order for the Group.
Time limits
Match clocks may be stopped for significant delays only, i.e., when both games on a court are contesting the same hoop.
The First and Second Eights will not use time limits, however this is subject to change at TD discretion.
The Third and Fourth Eights will have cumulative match-time limits of 1:30, 2:45, 4:00. That is, the first game of a match has a 90-minute time limit. The second game of a match has a time limit of 75 minutes plus any time left on the clock at the end of the first game. The third game of a match has a time limit of 75 minutes plus any time left on the clock at the end of the second game.
The Fifth Group will use an 80-minute time limit.
