Greetings from a sunny Colechester, the final of The Eastern Championship is being played on lawn 2 between David Maugham & Mark Suter. Game 1 went to Suter.

Game 2, the clips are: Blye, Red & Yellow for 1, Suter in break with Black is about to leave a standard contact leave having run 3b.

Suter just called a fault on himself, yellow didn't move as he took off toward corner 4 with black.... Maugham asks for the balls to go back.

Blue ball is just out of corner 2 on the north boundary. Maugham has played a cannon with yellow sending black to 10 yards north of hoop 4, red to hoop 1.

Back in a moment, my oppo just broke down...

Back again... I missed. Myself (Alison Maugham) and Nick Steiner are playing the final of the Plate on lawn 1, best of 3. I have won the first.... but it's not been pretty.

Back to the main event. Maugham (Yellow) made it through 1, put red near 4 back, took off toward corner 2 where blue was... missed.

Suter hits his three inch roquet with Blue, rolls yelllow to 6 yards south of hoop 2 going to red at hoop 3.

Rushed red to near east bournary, croqueted it into the middle of the lawn to get a good rush pointing at hoop 1 with Black.

Rush went well, black is 3 feet in front of 1

Slight over hit, slight angle....

Easy peasy, Suter makes 1 and has a standard four ball break in front of him, this will be a standard tp attempt. I'll keep you posted with interesting stuff.

Suter is approaching 3 from black which is in the jaws...

Black has been peeled through 4b. Quick recap,Suter playing blue is in break approaching 4 with one peel done. Maugham clips are yellow for hoop 2, redfor hoop 1.

Suter peels rover, has a slight angle for blie but slides through and has all the balls around him to finish off the game...

Meanwhile on lawn 1, I've been busy making a hoop or two and a leave or two. Nick and I continue to slog it out.

The chaps are having a little rest and my oppo has got through the hoop I can't, so I'm off to do some washing up. Back shortly.

Washng up has been done. Game three has commenced.All clips for hoop 1, apart from black which Suter is playing at the moment, he just ran hoop2 2 from a slightly angled 3 plus yards away.

Suter ran hoop 4 then took the 7 yarder at blue on the east boundary. Hit it clean on the back, four ball break lies ahead.

Suter has made 1b and rushed partner ball blue into corner 2, mini take off to behind red 1 yard east of it.... should be over soon.

Suter had a standard contact leave. Dave picked up yellow, rolled black from corner 3 to hoop 1 getting near red level with hoop 4 on east boundary...

Missed red. Oppsie.

Okay, I had to go and play.... some stuff happened, now Dave is in play with Red, he is about to approach hoop 4 and I beleive black has been peeled through 4b, so it's a TPO coming up.

Maugham is peeling black through penult after running 6.

Black was jawsed, so red is rushing black through penult after making 1b.

Maugham is through 2b,but with a fight.... looks like the hoop didn't want the ball to go through.

Black is now jawsed in rover, Maugham is approaching 3b from 1ft se. Makes the hoop with a forward rush.

He's left black in the jaws of Rover and gone straight up to 4b

Maugham sent yellow to rover from after running 4b, it knocked black thought. Convenient.

Commentary could get a little tricky, Ben (1.5, age not handicap) is now awake.

Maugham is pegging off black, Yellow is level with hoop 4 on the east boundary, blue is near the peg and red is in corner 2.

Clips are now: Yellow and Blue for 1, Red for Peg, black in the box.

Suter t(playing blue) takes contact from yellow, rolls blue to 3 yards in front of 1 at a slight angle, yellow to peg high between 1 & 2.

Red is still in corner 2, Blue takes position at h1.

Ben needed feeding and I had to take a couple of shots. Suter is now in play and has a 3ft shot at 2b. Makes it. He's on a finishing turn now.

Suter finished. Suter wins. Well done Suter :)
