With only two lawns for 14 players in the main events, it is important that you be ready to start your next game as and when lawns become available. If you have a long break between games, feel free to use the time elsewhere but plan to be back 20 minutes before your scheduled game time, or sooner if a prior game is likely to finish early.
Block play will be finished on Friday afternoon.
TIME LIMITS: Block games will be timed at 2 hours in First Flight and 2.5 hours in Championship Flight. Best-of-three matches will have cumulative time limits of 2.5/5/7 in Championship Flight and 2/4/6 in First Flight. Plate games will be timed at 2 hours.
PLATE EVENT: Beginning on Friday afternoon, players from both flights are invited to play in a consolation plate/Z event, the New York Open Plate. The winner will receive an antique silver biscuit barrel donated by me as a perpetual trophy. The plan is to use as many time slots as possible for plate/Z games along with the semifinals and finals. Main event players who have not qualified for the semifinals will have priority for plate games, but other players and interested NYCC members will also be invited to sign up for games as lawn space permits.
PLAYOFFS: Semifinals in Championship Flight will begin around 10:30 a.m. on Saturday and will be played as best-of-three matches. Finals will also be best-of-three matches and will be played on Sunday, with start times TBD.
SCORES: Promptly reporting scores is the responsibility of both players. Scores will be posted on croquetscores.com as they are received.
REFEREEING: Please call a referee before taking a hampered or otherwise questionable stroke -- don't wait for your opponent to ask for a referee. Stuart Lawrence is the tournament referee. Macey White is a USCA-certified American rules referee and can referee questionable strokes. Any player may act on request as an umpire to judge whether a ball is moved or roqueted or has scored a hoop or the peg.
