WCF GCWC U21s
Day Two Wrap-Up by Lester Hughes
The cold and rain didn't stop the U21s putting their skills on display again today.
Watching on was a growing group of qualifiers and some players already in the main draw.
Ahmed El Mahdi the current GC World Champ was in da club house today.
I watched him practice a jump shot over the black pipe and through the hoop, at least it looked like it went through.
Back to the Under 21s and the log jam of players fighting for a precious knockout spot.
Block one sees Josh in strong position and Omar and Angus looking likely to fill the 2nd spot in this block.
Jacks win against Ali late in the day keeps his slim hopes alive.
Block Two sees EJ the 1st to secure a spot on 5 wins, with Felix and Ahmed looking the likely candidates for the 2nd spot.
Hemi can get to four wins but that might not be enough.
Block Three has Edmund in the box seat and Nadine and Jason eyeing off the 2nd spot.
Connell finds himself in the same position as Hemi in that he can get to 4 wins but that may not be enough.
In Block Four its George in control with Mohamed and Declan lining up for 2nd.
Lachlan and James also can get to fours but will require other results to go their way for that to be enough.
Good luck to all tomorrow!
I will be helping Brian and Peter tomorrow as John Grieve is playing in the qualifier.
This will dent my commentary time.
If there are any experienced hoop setters who are free over the few days, come to Cairnlea.
Your hoop setting skills could be put to use or you can just watch some great Croquet.
