Australian GC Men's Championship
ACA GC Men’s Format by Peter Freer
44 players split into eight groups (per below).
Each group, will play all players from another group, i.e. cross blocks.
Cross block games will be played as single 19 point games (6-7 rounds on Saturday, 1-2 rounds on Sunday – note: not all players will fit on the courts each round (players will play a maximum of 5 19 point games per day)).
At the conclusion of the cross blocks , there will be single game 13 point playoffs to determine positions 1-4 within each group where players are tied on games won.
At the conclusion of the playoffs, the top 4 players from each group will qualify for the final 32 Bo3 13 point knockout.
The round of 32 will to be played on Sunday afternoon with the 16 winners proceeding to Men’s XYZW and the 16 losers proceeding to the Consolation XYZW.
Both the Men’s and Consolation events will be played as full XYZW Bo3 13 point knockout events. The round of 16 and quarter finals will be played on Monday, the semi finals and finals will be played on Tuesday.
Those that don’t qualify for the knockout or that entered as plate only (up to 15 players) will proceed to the Men’s Plate.
The Plate format will be dependent on final numbers but likely to be two blocks or cross blocks (19 point commencing after lunch on Sunday or 13 point if not commencing until Monday) with Bo3 semi & final on Tuesday.
