Paul approaches 2 from cnr 2 with R but falls short. Retires to N boundary, Black (near hoop 3) has a dangerous 14-yarder. Blue is btn 1 and peg

Paul going for the kill now as he sets up a standard triple attempt. Weather update - no rain for a while, warm-ish. More rain is forecast and I'm told the courts don't drain too well!

Paul peels 4b from 2 yards (a good effort with Quadway hoops) - standard triple in progress. MEanwhile, John Christie completes his plate game against Marion McGuiness with a nice single peel to virtually guarantee him the title with 75%.

Correction - Chris is on 1 and 2, which makes the score worse, of course, if Paul completes his triple. He is about to peel penult after 6 so all going swimmingly (not literally just yet!)

Peels it through by a foot, makes 1-back, rushes back and loads 3b, getting a rush on R horizontally to W boundary. 2b loaded

Hope you have all enjoyed the commentary. Unfortunately battery restraints plus drive home to Hawkes Bay will preclude further commentary after this game. Sorry!

Declines this and takes off to B at 4b instead, leaving red 2" closer to rover than it was. That's about as exciting as it's going to get!

Paul jawses R at rover, now irish (argghh) scotch peeling it with the other 2 balls in fairly standard positions. First game 26-1 tp to Paul Skinley. Time to get the Z3 revved up and onwards to Ongaonga!
