06 Jul 2014 12:51PM (Tournament); 1 Readers

In the last 16 Samir Patel is on a break to 4b (giving contact) playing with Jeff Dawson against Reg Bamford and Ben Rothman, both Reg and Ben on 3b after a failed sextuple from Reg. Jeff still on 1. Reg and Ben game up. On lawn 6.

06 Jul 2014 12:55PM (Tournament); 1 Readers

The winner to play Chris Williams and David Goacher.

06 Jul 2014 12:56PM (Tournament); 1 Readers

On lawn 10 Doug Grimsley and Brian Cumming have just started the third against Sarah Burrow and Dave Foulser. Scrappy start no one has picked up a break yet.

06 Jul 2014 12:59PM (Tournament); 2 Readers

On lawn 3 the pairs of Mark Avery and David Openshaw, and Peter Trimmer and Nick Mounfield look we'll matched.

06 Jul 2014 1:01PM (Tournament); 1 Readers

Openshaw has a chance of a straight double versus 2b and peg and wouldn't be surprised to the clips rover and box v 2b and box at the end of the turn.

This is a quarter final still in game 1.

06 Jul 2014 1:04PM (Tournament); 1 Readers

In the other quarter final going on lawn 11, David Maugham and Paddy Chapman have taken the first against Lionel Tibble and Luc Berthouze. Luc failed 1 with Lionel already on 4b and Paddy and Dave yet to start. Dave had one peel of a TPO and broke down but they got away with this and won after Paddy had completed the DP ( NZTPO).

06 Jul 2014 1:09PM (Tournament); 1 Readers

Openshaw has as predicted only had one peel but he has got Mark's ball nicely in the front of rover before pegging two off.

06 Jul 2014 1:12PM (Tournament); 1 Readers

Lawn 6. Reg is going to peg, Dawson and Patel having missed a 25 yarder

06 Jul 2014 1:13PM (Tournament); 1 Readers

Lawn 3 Peter for 2b has missed the ball in rover from A-baulk to just N of penult allowing Mark to run rover and find a massive wired area next to the peg. Peter misses 2b and concedes.

+6 and lunch

06 Jul 2014 1:18PM (Tournament); 1 Readers

Back to lawn 6 and Reg is making a lift leave. Ben is for 3b, Reg will be on peg, Samir on 4b, Jeff on 1.

06 Jul 2014 1:22PM (Tournament); 1 Readers

Looks like a spread with Samir's ball at the peg.

06 Jul 2014 1:24PM (Tournament); 1 Readers

On lawn 10 Doug has the first break. They are playing standard advanced.

06 Jul 2014 1:25PM (Tournament); 1 Readers

Dave, Paddy, Lionel and Luc are still at lunch.

06 Jul 2014 1:27PM (Tournament); 1 Readers

Fulford and Death are waiting for the match on lawn 10. Death had a nice sextuple this morning.

06 Jul 2014 1:31PM (Tournament); 1 Readers

On lawn 6 Jeff has missed some kind of target from where he was and Ben should take the match from here.

06 Jul 2014 1:33PM (Tournament); 1 Readers

Sennds Jeffs ball to 4b leaving longish rush to 4b and ends up having to make 3b from 2 yards straight, but runs easily.

06 Jul 2014 1:35PM (Tournament); 1 Readers

Raining fairly heavily a minute ago but it is just a brief shower.

06 Jul 2014 1:37PM (Tournament); 1 Readers

I've only played on lawn 11 which was a bit slower then usual. The hoops were well set and putting up reasonable resistance particularly when compared with last year's opens.

06 Jul 2014 1:41PM (Tournament); 1 Readers

Sarah and Luc are both in play now.
