CA Open Championship

Opens Friday afternoon by Andrew Gregory

I don't think Paddy got going off the contact, but if Pete did have a shot he missed it,
Paddy now on a break with Black, and he's looking to do the first peel of the QPO going to his hoop 2 pioneer which is West of hoop 2.
Peel goes through, copes with hoop 2.
Death v Maugham still lunching.

11 Jul 2014 2:15PM (Tournament); 24 Readers

It looks like the 2nd peel of the QPO has gone through after 3.

Kibble's trying a TPO on lawn 6 against Giraud.

Manager's doing some Managing with Samir assisting.

Oh dear wifi's playing up again.

They're resuming on 4.

Looks like James tried a supershot but missed the furniture. Blue goes in III.

Kibble's broken down.

Paddy's rush-peeled penult before 2-back.

Dave put Blue near W bdry, Yellow 2y W of IV
James misses Y from A-baulk.
Dave misses Y from A-baulk.

James fails 1 off partner.

Looks like Dave might have a wiring lift. Robin Brown on to ref.
No lift with Red, So yellow takes on 20-yarder. Hits.

And I am reconnected.

Paddy is finishing off his QPO. Blue is on E bdry, presumably about 7yN of IV. Black goes to II. Red is in the box. Blue and Yellow clips on 1.

Dave has break.

11 Jul 2014 2:42PM (Tournament); 20 Readers

Pete attempts to roll off 1 from E bdry. Short. Takes posi. Not wired from Blue.
Paddy thinks.... Blue to IV.
Pete makes 1, misses Black in II.

Rumours that Reg got a bollocking from Manager for not reporting result.

11 Jul 2014 2:49PM (Tournament); 18 Readers

Paddy takes off, plays Black 3yW of Blue

Pete plays yellow to just S of III.

Paddy rushes Black nearish to 1, makes hoop, has rush to just S of Yellow.

On lawn 4 Dave made 6 hoops, James missed lift, Dave playing with forward ball.

11 Jul 2014 2:54PM (Tournament); 21 Readers

Paddy has rushed Yellow off W bdry. Must have forgotten to cut it. Rolls up, doesn't like it, clip goes on 2. Blue to 1st corner.
Pete Yellow misses Black (20y)

Dave failed 1-back. James has break.

11 Jul 2014 2:58PM (Tournament); 22 Readers

Giraud beats Kibble.

Paddy rushes Yellow nr IV, rolls Blue North toward II. Leaves rush.

Pete has 30+-yarder. Probably wins or loses the game. You can see him thinking.
He's taking it on. misses.

11 Jul 2014 3:03PM (Tournament); 24 Readers

James fails 6 having done 1 POP on Red. Looks like he was after another POP and conceding contact.

Dave plays with Red, then rush-peels Blue to get break. Could pick up sextuple here.

Paddy on 3-ball break for the match. Has reached 1-back.

11 Jul 2014 3:09PM (Tournament); 23 Readers

Dave gets 1-back peel after 2. Peelee is about 5yN of 2-back.
Now has longish (8y?) roll approaching 4. Fails hoop.

Paddy has grovelled thru rover, and can only hit partner, not Yellow. However it's a big lead. Calls on a ref for the peg, misses peg-out. Pegs blue out.

11 Jul 2014 3:17PM (Tournament); 23 Readers

Now James can have a bash at the sextuple. 1-back peel goes thru and close to 2-back.

Pete considering. Black is about3yE of 6 and a bit S, probably. Yellow is lifted to B-baulk. Doesn't make the shot as short as possible, ,but hits it.
Tries to roll to 2. Looks a good approach, but fails the hoop.

Paddy hits short roquet, finishes.

Paddy wins Game 3 +12qpo, and the match 3-0.

11 Jul 2014 3:22PM (Tournament); 21 Readers

James (Black) is now lining up the 3-back peel going to pioneer at 6. Looks like it's jawsed. After 6 rushes yellow nr 4-back, takes off to Blue, short, can't rush peel it. Peels it going to 1-back pioneer, 6y short of pioneer, copes.

11 Jul 2014 3:27PM (Tournament); 24 Readers

All four balls gathering round 4-back. Longish peel attempt before 2-back. Looks rush-peelable.
Makes 2-back. Does rush-peel Blue thru 4-back. 3-back pioneer is of course at 4-back. Rush goes nearer corner than hoop. Copes.
Now all 4 balls round penult. Penult peel before 4-back goes thru to about peg-high.

11 Jul 2014 3:33PM (Tournament); 23 Readers

James needs a straight rover peel to finish his sextuple and the match.

And he finishes. Game 4 +16sxp.

11 Jul 2014 3:37PM (Tournament); 21 Readers

Newsflash from Manager: may well be having the Doubles final later today.

11 Jul 2014 3:39PM (Tournament); 19 Readers

Wixy has just beaten the good doctor in the Plate with another tpo.

Lots of Plate games going on.

Think the Doubles final is awaiting a suitable lawn.

The bell has just gone for tea, and as I missed lunch I'm off. I'll start a new page for the Doubles final if and when it happens.

Bye for now.
