CA Open Championship

Wednesday afternoon Swiss by Robert Fulford

Into the sweater part of the Swiss as games are becoming more like knockout games.

09 Jul 2014 2:35PM (Tournament); 2 Readers

On lawn 6 Brian Cumming has a straight double to do versus Keith Aiton on penult and peg. Both are on 5/9 so have a life to spare.

09 Jul 2014 2:40PM (Tournament); 1 Readers

Brian plays a series of miserable strokes to fail to get the peelee into position despite having it very close before making 4b and then perhaps thinking about that missed a very short robust after penult handing Keith the easiest of finishes +4

09 Jul 2014 2:44PM (Tournament); 1 Readers

Keith qualifies, Brian now on 5/9 so still has two lives left (some scope for one lucky loser on 5/11 to get another chance if there is an odd player left on 5/10)

09 Jul 2014 2:49PM (Tournament); 1 Readers

Weather today is dry and windy. Due to be Sunny tomorrow so lawns might quicken up a bit.

09 Jul 2014 2:51PM (Tournament); 1 Readers

Doug Grimsley has just beaten Robert Wilkinson +20. Both players now on 5/9.

09 Jul 2014 2:53PM (Tournament); 2 Readers

Mulliner is the top ranked player not yet qualified sitting on 5/10 and waiting for an opponent.

09 Jul 2014 2:56PM (Tournament); 1 Readers

The doubles semis will be starting this afternoon, all the players having qualified (other than Openshaw who isn't playing singles)

09 Jul 2014 2:59PM (Tournament); 2 Readers

James Hopgood has just beaten Mark Ormerod. +15tp on lawn 11. Mark hit 3 20 yarders but couldn't get going enough. James now 5/9, Mark 4/9

09 Jul 2014 3:05PM (Tournament); 3 Readers

Mark will now play Richard Smith also 4/9 in a must win game.

09 Jul 2014 3:06PM (Tournament); 3 Readers

On lawn 11 Lionel Tibble has had the first break to 1b against Nick Mounfield. Nick is in the last chance salon on 4/9. Can't believe his long lift has missed. Lionel is also on 4/9, making 1b now.

09 Jul 2014 3:10PM (Tournament); 3 Readers

Sarah Burrow has just won on lawn 4 against George Noble to qualify. George has been perched on 5 wins for a couple of rounds now. Now 5/10. Sarah wants me add she qualified with a game to spare!

09 Jul 2014 3:17PM (Tournament); 4 Readers

Hopgood is now playing Cummimg and has a long rush to 1.

09 Jul 2014 3:19PM (Tournament); 5 Readers

Makes the hoop and has a ball at 2.

09 Jul 2014 3:20PM (Tournament); 5 Readers

On lawn 5 Jack Wicks looks like he is TPOing Eugene Chang. All the peels done before 3b. Both are on 5/9. Both other balls are on hoop 1.

09 Jul 2014 3:24PM (Tournament); 4 Readers

it looks like Nick has missed another lift versus Lionel and Lionel is making 5 with balls loosely organised for a delayed TP on lawn 11.

09 Jul 2014 3:27PM (Tournament); 4 Readers

Peeling 4b from big angle now and will be happy if it jawses, bounces off. Odds on Nick will get another shot.

09 Jul 2014 3:30PM (Tournament); 5 Readers

He definitely will now, Lionel has failed 6. The shot at the ball in the hoop awkward but Nick hits his 6 yard lift shot at the ball that bounced of 4b (remembering it is super advanced)

09 Jul 2014 3:32PM (Tournament); 5 Readers

The Bamford/Rothman v Avery/Openshaw doubles match has started and Ben Rothman has had the first break, making a diagonal spread.

09 Jul 2014 3:35PM (Tournament); 5 Readers

they are playing on lawn 9.

09 Jul 2014 3:36PM (Tournament); 5 Readers

On lawn 10 Chris Williams has had the first break against Doug Grimsley, Doug having failed 1. Chris Has gone to 4b with a contact leave.
