NSW Handicap Singles

Final by John Compton

The first game of the final lasted 1 hour and 15 minutes with Bill quickly off to a 2-0 lead. Peter won the next 2 for 2-2. Bill then jumped away to a 5-3 lead which became 6-4 after 10. Peter overshot 11 and needed to take his extra turn to stay in the game. He did this well by jamming in the hoop with his only ball near the hoop. Bill opted to play for 12 rather than try a difficult roquet from 180 degrees and 5 m. Both players had numerous opportunities at 12 which lasted 20 minutes. Peter finally found a way through. Bill was short with red to 13, Peter went past 3 metres. Bill pushed red into a running position with yellow. Peter ran blue to the back of the hoop making Bill's angled hoop shot impossible. Bill opted to jump - banged both legs and popped out. Much more jockeying and clearing eventually left Bill with a 4m hoop shot with red but with black less than a metre out at a sslight angle. Bill opted to hoop - missed. Peter did not. Game Peter 7-6.
