President's Cup Day 1 Very firm Pres hoops in new hoop holes promised some interactivity on the morrow, especially if the threatened rain held off. Sadly it didn't and Friday dawned very damply. Nonetheless, interactivity was the order of the day and now that the sun has returned, the degree if challenge should increase. Part of the fun at Ryde is the two-tone appearance of the lawns with fast pale brown areas and slower green patches, making strength judgement of rushes and croquet strokes more testing than usual. Anyway, after Round 2, all are on 1/2 barring Patel (2/2) and Dawson (0/2). by Stephen Mulliner
